Adelphia Upgrades
Secures $1.5 billion loan for improvements
Despite the company's dance through bankruptcy, Adelphia has gained lender's approval to upgrade many of their cable systems to digital technology. According to this Associated Press report, the company has secured some $1.5 billion in bankruptcy-related financing and will use the funds to upgrade services for their customers in 32 states and Puerto Rico. According to company representatives, the expansion will allow Adelphia to offer broadband to approximately seventy-five percent of the homes that have access to their services. Adelphia also trimmed its claimed subscriber total, saying it in fact had 30% fewer digital customers than previously claimed.
